Hey Andrew, see a doctor about the pec. The intent is to be safe rather than sorry, and you should know whether you have a serious issue before continuing to bench heavy.

Week prior I did 85kg for 6 reps, so predicted 1 rep max 102kg.
Pretty accurate!

My predicted 1rm was 83 and I failed 77.5kg today.
60kg for 12 is my best, its worth noting I am sick at the moment. (i'm 14 at 83kg bodyweight 6'2)

Bench calculator says if I bench 225 3 times my max is 245. I have benched 255 once, so I believe it may be different for different people. I think it's very close but not exact.

Fun calculator. I like to check in with it now and then to compare my actual progress. It’s usually pretty close.
I am curious if anything like this exists for other lifts, in particular the squat and deadlift? That would be very cool if so.

When do you recommend trying to max out? I'm 63. I just finished week 7 of the 10x3 bench press workout. I started at 135 and this week was 165. After set 10 I usually grab a spotter and try to go heavier. Monday I did 185 X 3 and today was 190 X 2. My spotters (usually guys 30 years younger than me) typically say I should try to max out before I do all my sets. Thoughts?

Hey John, on the day you max out, definitely do it before you do all your sets. You should warm-up but make sure you're fresh and ready when you go to do it.
I don't suggest maxing out every week, of course, but if you have a gut feeling you should that day, go for it!
