Large fire burns at Miami apartment building where man found shot inside
Firefighters are battling a large fire at a Miami residential building where a man was also found shot inside, authorities said. The fire was reported around 8:15 a.m. Monday, according to Miami Mayor Francis Suarez. Responding firefighters rescued several people, including some from their balconies, the mayor said, calling their actions "heroic."

Rodeo star, wife share moving tribute to 3-year-old son who died in accident
Professional rodeo star Spencer Wright and his wife Kallie Wright are sharing a moving tribute to their 3-year-old son, who they say died after driving his toy tractor into a creek. Levi Wright died June 2, nearly two weeks after he suffered a brain injury after driving a toy tractor through a creek on the family's property in Utah, according to Facebook posts by Kallie Wright. In his obituary, Levi is remembered as a "grandma's boy" who loved his family, dinosaurs, tractors and his cowboy hat and boots.

First lady Jill Biden's support for Hunter Biden during his trial in Delaware continued on Monday, as she appeared at the courthouse for closing arguments before jury deliberations. The entire first three rows and some of the fourth row were full on Monday of Hunter Biden's friends and family, approximately 25 people in total. After one of the breaks, Hunter Biden and Jill Biden entered the courtroom hand-in-hand.

Husband of owner of day care where baby died from fentanyl pleads guilty to federal charges
The husband of the owner of the New York City day care where a 1-year-old died of fentanyl poisoning pleaded guilty Monday to federal charges, officials said. In September 2023, Felix Herrera Garcia was seen fleeing the Bronx day care out a back alley, carrying two heavy shopping bags while children were suffering from the effects of fentanyl, officials said. Herrera Garcia fled to Mexico after the death and was eventually arrested in Mexico after a weeklong manhunt.

The U.S. is calling for the United Nations Security Council to vote on a draft resolution urging Hamas to accept the ceasefire-hostage release deal on the table, according to a statement from the spokesperson for the U.S. mission to the UN. "Israel has accepted this proposal and the Security Council has an opportunity to speak with one voice and call on Hamas to do the same," the statement read.

US couple’s trip to Brazil becomes 4-month ordeal after wife gives birth early
A Minnesota couple who traveled to Brazil in February for a two-week vacation have now spent nearly four months there after the wife went into premature labor, delivering their son at 28 weeks. Chris and Cheri Phillips, of Cambridge, arrived on Feb. 22 in Brazil, where they planned to celebrate the eighth birthday of Chris's daughter from a previous relationship, who lives full-time with her mother in Brazil. "It started off that I just kind of had a backache ... I thought I just need to go lie down and I'll feel better in the morning," said Cheri Phillips.

Scorching heat at Trump rally in Las Vegas sends 6 to hospital, fire department says
Six people were taken to a hospital, while another two dozen received medical attention on site at former President Donald Trump's rally in Las Vegas on Sunday amid extreme heat, the Clark County Fire Department said. Temperatures on Sunday topped 100 degrees and the National Weather Service issued an excessive heat watch. Prior to the rally at Sunset Park in Las Vegas the Trump campaign stressed its efforts to implement "comfort measures" to ensure the safety of rally goers who usually spend hours waiting in line just to get into Trump rallies and additional hours waiting for Trump to take the stage -- including providing water bottles, allowing small umbrellas into the rally, setting up tents and misting stations, and deploying "ample" medical staff in case of emergencies.

Los Angeles leader outraged after footage shows officers 'dump' alleged homeless man in front of office
The Los Angeles City Council president is demanding answers after security cameras captured two Burbank Police officers allegedly dropping off a homeless man near his office and driving away as he lay on the ground this week. Councilman Paul Krekorian released the video that showed the two uniformed officers pull up to the street in North Hollywood on June 6, get the unidentified man out of their marked vehicle in handcuffs, uncuffing him and then driving off as he appeared to get on the ground on all fours. Krekorian said his office staffers were able to find the man and get him medical care after they were given the security footage, he said.

19-year-old speaks out after surviving shark attack in Texas
An Oklahoma teen and her family are speaking out after the 19-year-old was attacked by a shark last month in Galveston, Texas. Damiana Humphrey, 19, told "Good Morning America" she was wading in the water about waist-deep when a 4 to 5-foot shark latched onto her hand. Humphrey's father, Troy, also spoke to "GMA."
