It is an addictive sweet and salty treat with the best candy coating. Jello is mixed with sugar and corn syrup and boiled until it is the perfect consistency.

The popcorn is then coated in this delicious mixture and baked until it is nice and crispy. You can use any flavor of jello you like.

We like to make several different flavors and then combine them after they are baked. The rainbow of flavors look so pretty together in a bowl.

How long does candied popcorn last?

If stored correctly, the popcorn will last up to 1 week. After that, the consistency will start to change and lose its crispness.

Tips for Candy popcorn

  • Butter. Make sure the butter is completely melted before adding the jello and sugar. This will ensure it has a smooth consistency.
  • Stir the mixture frequently. The butter and jello mixture needs to be stirred frequently to ensure it does not burn.
  • Bake is necessary. Don’t be tempted to skip this step. This is what makes the popcorn crispy and not so sticky.
  • Regular Jello. Don’t use sugar free Jello as the sugar is what gives the popcorn the candy taste.
  • Stir the popcorn while baking. It is important to stir the popcorn and toss it every 10 minutes while baking. This will help it to evenly bake and ensure it is cooked evenly.
