Cardinals' Pedro Pages: Moved to majors
Rotowire
The Cardinals recalled Pages from Triple-A Memphis on Sunday.
Pages was called up by St. Louis earlier in the season to provide depth at catcher with Willson Contreras battling a hand injury. Katie Woo of The Athletic notes that recalling Pages will allow the Cardinals to play both Contreras and Ivan Herrera at catcher and DH regularly. To make room for Pages, the Cardinals optioned outfielder Victor Scott to Triple-A Memphis.

Cardinals' Victor Scott: Moved down to Triple-A
Rotowire
The Cardinals optioned Scott to Triple-A Memphis on Sunday.
Scott had a tough first month in the majors, as he attempted to make the jump from Double-A Springfield to the Cardinals. He slashed .085/.138/.136 with two RBI while striking out 15 times over 65 plate appearances to start the season. A move back to the minors will hopefully be what Scott needs to find his swing again. In a corresponding move, St. Louis recalled catcher Pedro Pages from Triple-A Memphis.

Cardinals' Nick Robertson: Joins big club
Rotowire
The Cardinals recalled Robertson from Triple-A Memphis on Sunday.
Robertson hasn't given up a run or a hit over his last three appearances, and he has a 2.84 ERA and 1.31 WHIP over 6.1 innings with Memphis this season. Robertson will serve in the Cardinals' bullpen, with St. Louis optioning right-hander Andre Pallante to Triple-A Memphis in a corresponding move.

Cardinals' Andre Pallante: Sent down to Triple-A
Rotowire
The Cardinals optioned Pallante to Triple-A Memphis on Sunday.
In his last outing Saturday against the Brewers, Pallante gave up three runs (two earned) on five hits and a walk. He has a 6.30 ERA, 1.90 WHIP and 6:5 K:BB over 10 innings to start the season. St. Louis recalled right-hander Nick Robertson in a corresponding move.

Cardinals' Miles Mikolas: Serves up three homers in loss
Rotowire
Mikolas (1-3) was charged with the loss Saturday against Milwaukee after he allowed five runs on nine hits and no walks across 4.2 innings. He struck out five.
Mikolas gave up a two-run homer to Rhys Hoskins during the opening frame but rebounded and was staked to a 4-2 lead after three innings. The right-hander then surrendered three more runs on a pair of homers in the fourth, setting him up for the loss. The 35-year-old entered Saturday's contest having not given up a homer in his previous three starts. Mikolas has two quality starts in five turns through the rotation but has allowed exactly five runs in each of his other three outings, which results in a 6.49 ERA and 1.52 WHIP over 26.1 frames.

Cardinals' Victor Scott: Sitting again Saturday
Rotowire
Scott is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Brewers.
Scott returned to the starting lineup Friday, but he finished 0-for-3 and has not reached base since April 12 against the Diamondbacks. He's had a rough start to his major-league career, slashing .085/.138/.136 while striking out 15 times over 65 plate appearances this season. Mike Siani starts in center field Saturday, batting ninth against Brewers left-hander DL Hall.

Cardinals' Ryan Helsley: Handed extra-inning loss
Rotowire
Helsley (1-2) allowed an unearned run on one hit over one inning to take the extra-inning loss versus the Brewers on Friday.
Helsley was brought in for the top of the 10th inning and gave up an RBI single to William Contreras. While it wasn't a save situation, it ended a four-inning scoreless streak for Helsley. The right-hander is 7-for-8 in saves while adding a 2.45 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 12:1 K:BB over 11 innings. He continues to operate as a traditional closer rather than in a committee as he had in previous years.

Cardinals' Kyle Gibson: Walks four in no-decision
Rotowire
Gibson yielded a run on three hits and four walks over six innings in a no-decision Friday. He struck out three in the loss to Milwaukee.
Gibson was tagged with a run in the third inning but otherwise didn't face much trouble in the quality start. He was in line for a tough-luck loss before the Cardinals pushed the game to extra innings. After earning a win in his Cardinals debut, Gibson was hammered for 11 runs over his next two starts. Friday's outing lowered his ERA to 5.04 with a 14:10 K:BB through 25 frames. Gibson is currently projected to face Arizona at home next week.

Cardinals' Matt Carpenter: Takes swings Friday
Rotowire
Carpenter (oblique) took swings during batting practice Friday, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.
Carpenter began taking infield practice last weekend, and Friday marks the first time the 38-year-old veteran has participated in batting practice. He remains without an official timeline for his activation, but he could head to the minors for a rehab assignment relatively soon if he's able to continue swinging without any issues.

Cardinals' Dylan Carlson: Participates in batting practice
Rotowire
Carlson (shoulder) has taken swings from both sides of the plate during batting practice and has also resumed throwing, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.
Carlson is still reportedly feeling pain while swinging right-handed, but he seems to be making solid progress overall in his recovery. The Cardinals still have not set a timeline for the 25-year-old's return, but he will almost certainly have to embark on a rehab assignment before he makes his season debut.

Cardinals' Lars Nootbaar: Swipes first bag
Rotowire
Nootbaar went 1-for-3 with a stolen base and a run scored in Wednesday's loss to the Athletics while also drawing a walk.
Nootbaar actually spoiled what could have been a productive start for the Cardinals' offense in the first inning when he grounded into a double play after the first two batters reached base to open the frame. He did, however, do his best to make up for it in his next at-bat, opening the fourth inning with a single before coming around to score St. Louis' first run on a Willson Contreras double. The left fielder has now hit safely in four of his first six games to open the season and even swiped his first bag in Wednesday's loss. He'll look to record his first multi-hit game of the campaign this weekend when the Cardinals host the Brewers.

Cardinals' Steven Matz: Shaky in loss
Rotowire
Matz (1-1) took the loss against Oakland on Wednesday, allowing five runs on seven hits and three walks over five innings while striking out four.
Matz got off to an decent start, striking out three of the first six batters he faced before getting tagged for two runs on an Esteury Ruiz home run in the bottom of the third. The lefty would then allow three consecutive hits to open the fifth, leading to three more runs coming across for Oakland as he took his first loss of the season. Matz had not allowed more than two runs in any of his first three starts coming in, though he's now given up 15 hits over his last 9.2 innings of work. The home run from Ruiz was also the first long ball that Matz has allowed this season.

-
Cardinals' Alec Burleson: Sits for sixth straight game
Rotowire
Burleson is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Athletics.
Burleson opened the season in a strong-side platoon role, but he's lost his grip on a regular spot in the lineup versus right-handed pitching in the wake of Lars Nootbaar's return from the 10-day injured list last week. The 25-year-old will find himself on the bench Wednesday for a sixth consecutive game.

Cardinals' Mike Siani: Draws another start in center field
Rotowire
Siani will start in center field and bat ninth in Wednesday's game versus the Athletics.
Siani has now occupied center field for two straight games and in three of the last four games as he subs in for the struggling Victor Scott. Siani has done very little at the plate in going 1-for-13 in his limited chances, but he's made a favorable impression with his defense.
