Super Bowl LVIII was thrilling from start to finish, with the Kansas City Chiefs knocking off the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 in overtime. For viewers who cared more about the halftime show and the Super Bowl 2024 commercials than the big game itself, there was plenty to cheer about as well.
Super Bowl ads in 2021 and 2022 focused more on uplifting messages amidst a global pandemic, but celebrity endorsements roared back in a big way during the 2023 Super Bowl. The trend continued during this year’s big game as well, with some of the most popular actors, athletes, and musicians showing up in many Super Bowl 2024 commercials.

Tom Brady made multiple appearances, hanging out with Matt Damon and Ben Affleck in a Dunkin’ ad and teaming up with fellow GOAT Wayne Gretzky and actor Vince Vaughn for gambling company BetMGM.
Brady’s former Patriots teammate Rob Gronkowski, who missed a field goal on live television at half time last year in an ad for gambling company FanDuel, tried (and failed) to redeem himself alongside West Newbury native John Cena and the late Carl Weathers.

Even during a time of economic uncertainty, companies were once again paying top dollar to advertise during the 2024 Super Bowl. CBS reportedly sold 100 percent of its inventory for the game, with several 30-second ad spots going for close to $7 million. Even the kid-friendly Super Bowl simulcast airing on Nickelodeon sold all of its ad space by the end of January, albeit at a lower price point.

Many of the usual brands were back this year, with Budweiser, Doritos, and Volkswagen among the companies airing ads in 2024 that have become big game fixtures over the decades.
Others made their first appearance, including Patriots owner Robert Kraft’s recently launched nonprofit Foundation to Combat Antisemitism (FCAS), which aimed to build momentum on the organization’s “Stand Up to Jewish Hate” awareness campaign from 2023.
